To twitter, or not to twitter?

That is the question.

Being so adamant about staying away from trends and then caving in is the story of my life. Current trend I may become a victim of: Twitter.
So, people of the blogging world, what is your opinion.
Should I join twitter, or stay away?
Help me please :)

Anyways, 4 days until the Paramore/No Doubt concert; 16 days until the Taking Back Sunday concert. I am freakishly excited. And who better to go with than my bff Jill Matt?
While I'm counting down, I'll go ahead and say that I only have 25 days until I'll be in Oklahoma watching Aaron graduate from Basic. :)

Hope you guys have a great week!

FMM

This week's FMM is....

How did you and your significant other meet? and if you don't have a significant other at the moment then what would be your dream way to meet him?

Circa 2005

Aaron and I went to the same high school. We always had, but he was a grade below me, and we didn't have mutual friends, so we didn't really 'know' each other. My senior year (2005), I started hanging out Camron. One day, we decided to go to a soccer game with some other friends, but Camron didn't have a ride, so I took him. When the game was over, he said he was hungry, said he wanted to stop by McDonald's to eat & see his friend. So, we got there and his friend (Aaron) went on his break & came to talk to us. I'm such a shy person, I'd never actually met him before, I just sat there listening to them talk. After Camron finished eating, we left. I took Camron home and then went home myself. I didn't really put much thought into anything that had happened that night. The next day Camron told me that Aaron was asking about me. He thought Camron and I were there on a date [FAT CHANCE!], but Camron confirmed that we were JUST friends, so he gave Aaron the 'go ahead' to talk to me. He gave him my email address, and he emailed me a little later. It was cute. He said I was the cutest girl he'd ever seen and he really wanted to get to know me. Remember how I said I'm super shy? Because of that, we only talked on the phone and through emails, and a little bit at school, for about a month. We didn't even hang out for the longest time. He finally asked me on a date, so we went to the movies to see Kicking and Screaming. He was so sweet to me. We went on a few more dates before he actually asked me out. We officially started dating May 28, 2005.
Like every other couple, we've had our problems. But we've made it through all of the rain.
He proposed April 12th, 2009. [The happiest day of my life, so far.]
And hopefully we will be getting married June 3rd, 2011.

Huckleberry Friends

Have I ever told you all about my bff's Matt and Frisco?

They're the only friends from high school that I still keep steady contact with.
And, honestly, they're probably the only ones I see myself keeping up with in the next 10+ years.
But, that's besides the point.
They just got back from this road trip to Cali, and they brought be back presents :)
A pencil case from San Francisco [since I'm going to be a teacher] and a really sweet painting!

Isn't it awesome?

THANKS GUYS! :)

Never wanna tell a lie..

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND :)

Nanny has been asking me to clean out this old desk of my sister's that we used to pile all our stuff in. I found lots of old letters, diaries, and 'creative writing' folders from our elementary/middle school years.

I threw most of it away, but kept the good stuff. And by good, I mean funny. Well, to me at least.

I almost busted a gut reading this stuff. When I was in the third grade, I apparently thought I had 3 brothers & 2 sisters. I only have TWO brothers and ONE sister. Nanny said I must have been counting my imaginary friends.

In the fifth grade, I wrote a letter to Bill Clinton. Take a look for yourself:

I guess kids really do say the darn'dest things.

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Hello, Hello..

Is anyone out there?

I'm at work [as usual] and I'm incredibly bored. I did find some spare time to FINALLY catch up on reading my friends' blogs. I feel guilty when I can't read and comment on a regular basis.

I'm also a bit frustrated that everyone seems to be in a bad mood today. Usually when I greet customers, they talk back, or at least acknowledge that I'm here. But not today. It seems like 75% of the people think I am bothering them by saying 'Hello'. Oh well.

I have so many new ideas for painting! I want to have time to work on them sooo bad, but work is consuming my soul. I cannot complain [I'll try not to], because at least I have a job in this craptastic economy.

I am craving Pumpkin Bread SO bad, and I'm pretty sure I will make myself some on my next day off. Anyone interested in the recipe?

Well, I better get back to work. Have a good weekend!

As I promised...

Here's the recipe for the cinnamon raisin bread. It is absolutely delicious!!

Ingredients

Warm the milk in a small sauce pan on the stove until it just starts to bubble, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat.

Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside until yeast is frothy, about 10 minutes or so (make sure your water is at the correct temperature or the yeast won't activate.) Then mix in eggs, sugar, butter salt and raisins (stir in the cooled milk slowly so you don't cook the eggs.) Add the flour gradually to make a stiff dough.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for a few minutes until smooth.

Place in a large, buttered, mixing bowl and turn to grease the surface of the dough.

Cover with a warm, damp cloth and let rise (I like to let my bread rise in the oven with the light on. It has just the right amount of heat and keeps the bread out of drafts.) Allow to rise until doubled, usually about 1 1/2 hours.

Roll out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle 1/2 inch thick.

Moisten the dough with 2 tablespoons milk and rub all over the dough with your hands.

Mix together 1/3 cup of sugar and1 tablespoon cinnamon and sprinkle mixture evenly on top of the moistened dough.

Roll up tightly (the long way).

Place loaf into well greased (you can use Crisco or butter for this) 9 x 5 inch pans and lightly grease tops of loaf.

Let rise in warm place, uncovered, again for about an hour.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until loaves are lightly browned and sound hollow when tapped.

Remove from oven and let cool on rack.

Take melted butter and spread over top.

After about 20 minutes, lay loaf on it's side and remove from pan.

Allow to cool before slicing.

Guess who's back

Sorry for being M.I.A, but I'm spending the summer back home with crappy wireless signal. Not to mention I'm working constantly, and my boss decided this week that she should block facebook & myspace on our computers. Seriously? Anyways, tonight I'm back in Troy. I'm supposed to be packing up the apartment, but I found a recipe that sounded delicious, so I decided to bake instead. Go figure? I definitely want to post it for you all, maybe tomorrow.

The water doesn't seem to taste as sweet...

I got a new camera today! It wasn't the one I originally wanted, but the one I got is really nice [to me, anyways]. I know, it was kind of a splurge, but I feel like I deserve it. Plus, I'll need it next semester for Digital Design.

It is 12 megapixals, and 4x optical zoom. So far, it has proved to be WAY better than my previous camera.

I've been wanting to share these with you all, but I haven't really had the time; now I do, so here they are!
One of my final pieces for Integrating Art:

We had to use 4 different media to create a self portrait.

The first in a series of four prints. Let me know if you wanna buy one ;)

Business Time

It's official, I've finished this semester of school.
Today was extremely long, and I was super cranky.
I decided to get off my frustrations in the form of letters.
If you don't want to hear complaints, close your browser now.

Dear Elementary Generalist [currently enrolled in ART3361],
Please take a second to get over yourselves. I am not a 3rd grader, therefore I am not going to act like one. I'm sorry you took offense to the fact that I gained no knowledge by tracing my hand, and then coloring it, but we're all adults here. Stop wearing your feelings on your shoulders. Also, we've graduated from high school [at least I hope so?], so stop running and tattling to the teacher every time someone says something that you don't like.

Dear Government,
Please pay my boyfriend so I can pay his bills for him. I would like to NOT get kicked out of the apartment, lose his insurance, and get his phone cut off simply because you said you pay the 15th and 30th of every month, but don't hold true to that statement.

Dear Teachers,
Please realize that I busted my butt in all of my classes. And because I worked so hard, realize that I deserve all A's. Also, for those of you who decided that a 5 hour 'hands on' final was a good idea...you should be punished. Seriously, it was torture, and I hope to God that I never have to experience that again.

Dear University Cops,
Thank you so much for not towing my car even though I was parked in a no parking zone without a university sticker on my car for 5 hours.

Sincerely,
Jak
