May the odds be ever in your favor

I just finished reading Mockingjay, and I must say...
what an amazingly written, action packed trilogy.
Is anyone else as excited as I am about seeing The Hunger Games?

Survival

Today marks the end of my FIRST week interning at the high school.
I can't get into it on here, but all I'm hoping to do is survive....with a grade good enough to graduate.
The past three days [during school hours] have been spent reading Water for Elephants. I finished it today during 5th period, so I had 2 periods to go with nothing to do.
I am definitely recommending this book to any and everyone who has the time to read it. I have had it sitting on my book shelf for at least 6 months, but haven't gotten around to it until now. My biggest motivation? The fact that the movie is coming out soon.
As for the book, there was just enough drama to keep me flipping the pages. And just enough sexual content to keep me from getting bored.
The book as a whole was very interesting, maybe because I used to want to be in the circus.
So check it out. It's worth it.
Plus, don't you want to know what happens in the book in case you're too distracted by Robert Pattinson's good looks to actually pay attention to what's happening in the movie?
That's what I thought.

30 days of me::Gossip Girl

Day 13: A fictional book

I was going to wait until I read more books in the series to write a review about them, but when this subject came up, I just couldn't let it pass.

I have recently started reading the Gossip Girl books.
Usually when I say that, people look at me like I'm retarded, so judge if you must, but they are honestly really good.

If you like the show, chances are you will like the book. Although it is A LOT different, I would encourage anyone who watches the show to read the book.

I've only read the first two so far, but they have me hooked. Once I start one, I can't put it down.

While I'm talking about books, let me refer you all to swaptree.com

I use this website because...well, to be quite honest, reading can be an expensive hobby. Especially when your local library never seems to carry books you are interested in.

At swaptree, you list books that you have in your possession that you are willing to trade. Then you list books that you want to read. Then they match you up with people who want your books and whose books you want. It's really neat. I've been doing it for about a month now. All you have to pay is postage, so it's really cheap. I think I've swapped 7 books, and I've only spent $10.

What are some good books you've read lately?

30 days of me::Fav Book

Day 4: Your favorite book

Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. I spent the weekend with my family back home. MOVING ON...

My Favorite book in the history of ever.....[so far, at least] is
The Perks of Being a Wallflower By Stephen Chbosky

It's a coming of age story and well, I'm a sucker for those kinds of books. I'm not going into details, but everyone needs to add it to their list of books to read. And yes, I do judge a book by it's cover.

Other books I really enjoyed:

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Innocence by Jane Mendlesohn
Go Ask Alice
Ashes of Roses by Mary Jane Auch

Books I'm currently reading:
The Gossip Girl Series by Cecily von Ziegesar
The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell

Meet me here beneath the burning skies

First of all, I just want to thank all of you for all of the congratulations, and for all of the advice that has been given. I have taken it all in, and I truly appreciate it.

This morning we had early registration for next semester. Seniors signed up at 8, so I got there a little early. To my surprise, there were only 2 other people waiting to sign up, so I got done pretty quick. Since I had a class at 9, I decided to just stay on campus. I went to the bookstore and just browsed around. A hot pink book caught my eye, so I picked it up. It was a wedding planner. I almost put it down, but then I realized, 'Hey, this actually pertains to me now, I can actually look at these things without feeling like a freak.' So I did. I looked at all the ones they had, and was really impressed by The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner. I almost bought it, but when I saw that it was $16.00, I put it down. KNOWING that I could get a better deal online, I came home and ordered it from amazon, and only spent $7.95 after shipping and handling.

I get to teach another art lesson to my peers tonight. Wish me luck!
