Almost there

Yesterday was my last day of internship.
I can't even begin to describe to you how amazing it felt to walk out those doors for the last time. I got a few crazy looks because I was smiling so hard, I'm sure I looked like donkey from Shrek.
Now all I have to do is survive a notebook check and portfolio review next week, and I'll be ready for graduation on Friday!!

I'm off to really enjoy my weekend, stress-free. Something I haven't been able to do the past 4 months! Hope ya'll have a great weekend, too!

Clever, clever boy.

Yesterday while watching t.v.
Aaron: I don't see why people wear those gladiator sandals. They're so ugly.
Me: Really?
Aaron: Yea...
Me: Because I definitely have two pair that I wear all the time.
Aaron: What I meant was, I don't know why anyone wears them because they only look good on you.

If you could see me now..

Spring Break is officially over.
I'm so sad to see it go, mostly because I didn't really feel like I had a break at all.
Within minutes of my last post, my Nanny called to tell me how much pain she was in and I ended up going to her house that night. The next morning, she was admitted to the hospital for dehydration. I have been sitting with her at the hospital during the day since Thursday.
She's doing better now, and they're sending her home.
While I was there, I did a lot of thinking.
I'm not going to worry about working in the baby's room anymore until after I finish my internship.
I need to focus on getting all my documents in order for my portfolio check that is coming up in a few weeks.
It's not so much that I'm stressing myself out, but other people are stressing me out.
I know they mean well, but everybody and their mama asking me 203984923 billion questions about the baby is what I have pin pointed as my main source of stress right now.
Anyways, I'm just going to try to relax today because I'm sure the first week back to school after spring break is going to be very hectic.

Here is what I'm looking forward to:

April 29th - Last day of Internship
May 2nd - 4D Ultrasound
May 6th - Graduation

p.s. Thank you all so much for the kind words and advice you left for me on my last post!

Les Mis

I'm in a funk, and I really need help getting out of it.
I'm actually getting a break, I should be enjoying it.
Instead, all I can do is think about all the things that I need to get done before Adelei gets here....
I've been trying to organize her room, and it's getting so overwhelming. Yesterday I found myself just sitting in there, staring into space because I just didn't know what else to do. I mean, I have a list a mile long of things I need to do, but where to start?
So I abandoned it.
I went to watch t.v. thinking it would help me relax.
But all it did was make me feel guilty for not being productive.
So I went to clean my bedroom, mostly my computer/crafting desk.
It took me several hours because I was going through everything.
I felt like my life needed cleaning up.
I was holding on to things that I needed to get rid of for a long time, and I finally had the umph to do so.
I felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

But then today rolled around.
I have so many items on my to-do list while I actually have some free time, but here it is, almost 5 pm, and I haven't done even 1 productive thing today.
Even my husband can tell something is not quite right.

So tell me, how do you get yourself out of a funk? Or do you just let it run it's course?

Absolute

Today while I was cleaning, I found this:

Valentine's Day 2008

He had just given me a promise ring.
I was pretty much the happiest girl in the world.

3 years later?
I still am :)

I can hardly sit still

I am officially on spring break!
I've been looking forward to this week for what seems like forever [okay, maybe only a few months, but still] and it's finally here.
A student today asked me why I was so excited to be on spring break if I wasn't going anywhere special. Well, because I'm an old lady [apparently] cleaning my house, organizing my baby's room, and just relaxing at home sounds like my kind of fun.

Also, I talked to my adviser today and he has some possible ideas for me for after graduation. I'm really excited, I just hope that it works out. I don't want to go into detail right now, just in case, but please please pleaseeee keep your fingers crossed for me.

She loves music

I realize that it's a little early to tell, but I'm pretty sure Adelei [like her mommy and daddy] loves music.

A few weeks ago, Matt gave me a mixed cd. The first time I listened to it all the way through, Adelei started kicking at the beginning of Mumford and Sons 'The Cave', and stopped somewhere close to the end. On a separate occasion, she kicked along to Taking Back Sunday's new release 'El Paso'. I know, I know...this could all be coincidence, but I like to think she likes our taste in music.

On Sunday, I stumble upon this website that takes famous tracks and modifies them into lullabies. I was a little skeptical at first, but after listening to a few samples for Bob Marley, Kanye West, and No Doubt, I fell in love.

Check them out and see for yourself.

Drunken Idiots

Last night I was woken up by the sound of my dog barking out of control.
She only does this when she is seriously scared/knows something is wrong. Aaron got up to check the situation, and from what he could tell everything was fine.

Fast forward to this morning.
I was about to leave for school when I saw this on my door step

Immediately I put two and two together and realized that the reason she was going crazy was because someone was out there. Now, I realize that to most people this is not a big deal [possibly even funny], but for me it was infuriating.

Do you know how hard it is to fall asleep comfortably when you're this pregnant? Trust me, it doesn't come easy. Not to mention that every time I seem to get into that perfect position I have to get up to pee. So getting woken up because of someone else's ignorance makes me want to spit fire.

It wasn't until I came home after school that I found out a few of our other friends had this happen to them as well, so I'm trying to be all CSI and figure out who did it so I can [as I so nicely put it] rip them a new one.

Because honestly, you just don't mess with a woman and her sleep.

Teenage Dirtbag

This was a real life conversation I heard between two seniors today....

K: Why do Germans look like Americans if Germany is in Asia..Wouldn't they look Asian?
M: Germany isn't in Asia, stupid, it's in Russia.

Sometimes, I really wonder about the quality of education of our high schools.
