If only I could keep my head on straight

I feel like I've been running around here like a chicken with my head cut off for the past couple of weeks. It's really unnerving.

I don't really HAVE the time to be sitting here writing this, but I'm TAKING the time, because I absolutely need it to save myself from a mental break down.

I realized last night that Shedrick would be 23 today, and I wasn't quite sure if I should be happy, or sad.

But I made it a happy day. Because I can't stand to be sad. And we had a lot of good times.
We were what I like to call 'unconventional' friends. Because no one would have ever guessed that two people so UNlike would have gotten along as well as we did.


So Happy Birthday. We love and miss you very much. There isn't a day that goes by that you don't cross my mind.

Here's to all the memories and I hope to see you again one day ♥

Suddenly Sunday?!

This weekend has flown by way too fast.

It seems like just yesterday I was sharing with you the yummy goodness that is banana bread, and now it's time to prepare for another dreaded week of school. Darn deadlines!

Last night my sister threw Aaron and I an engagement party. It was a lot of fun. Don't worry, I'll post pictures as soon as she uploads them. Until then....a teaser!

Anyways, a few of you asked me to post the recipe for the banana bread, so here it is:

Ingredients

• 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed
• 1/3 cup melted butter
• 1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)
• 1 egg, beaten
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• Pinch of salt
• 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour

Method

No need for a mixer for this recipe. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in. Add the flour last, mix. Pour mixture into a buttered 4x8 inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a rack. Remove from pan and slice to serve.

It's only half past the point of oblivion

Have I ever told you all how much I love loved Blender; The magazine?

I had a subscription to it for the longest time, and I always looked forward to new issues. It was like giving a kid some candy. Or giving a drug addict some heroin. Anyways..
A while back, they 'went under', so to speak. I guess they just didn't have the funds to make it through this whole recession thing, so they had to stop producing the magazine.
This really, really bothered me. I went through a mini-battle of depression about it, but like all things, I eventually got over it.

A few weeks ago, I went to Nanny's and saw that she had a Maxim magazine laying on the coffee table. For a second I just stood there shocked, wondering if I should say something or if I should just keep my mouth shut, but my curiosity got the best of me.

Me: Nanny, why do you have a Maxim?
Nanny: Oh, it came here for you.
[Long Pause/WTF? moment]

I pick up the magazine, and sure enough my name is on the front cover where the address goes. But there was also a note from the company saying that since I still had almost a full subscription of Blender left, they would just fill it with Maxim, because they are owned by the same company. Well, obviously I'M not interested in seeing naked girls and learning about man things, so I decided I would take it to Aaron. I mean, I've already paid for it, right.

Nanny: You don't need to look at it. You don't even need to tell Aaron about it. It has stuff about sex in there. Just throw it away.

Five television shows I am totally looking forward to this season...

1. Gossip Girl [even though I already missed the first episode]
2. Nip/Tuck [Oct 14th! Whaaat?!]
3. The Ruins [yes, I love reality trash tv. Sue me.]
4. The Office
5. Drop Dead Dive & Army Wives [although their seasons are almost over...I love love love them, and had to combine them because I will only watch one after the other...never one without the other.]

...and so many more random shows that I only catch occasionally, or that are too embarrassing to let everyone know I watch *cough*myantonio*cough*

No, there is no Odyssey. There's no Penelope.

Aaron got a job at the local movie theater!
This is good for two reasons.
1] A steady income never hurt anyone,
&
2] Someone said something about free movie showings...what?! ya!

It's days like today that I am really missing teacup. *sigh*
Here's my Sunday [not-so] secret, just to keep the tradition alive for one more week at least.



In other boring news, I spent four hours at the school today [ridiculous, I know] trying to catch up.

Did I mention that I got my outfit for our engagement photos? It's super cute. Now I just need someone to come dye my hair.

Well, here we are, with only 87 days until Aaron and I get married.

People keep asking me if I'm stressed about the wedding. HA! There is nothing [yet] to be stressed about in that area of my life. School is what is stressing me out.

Here's our wedding website, for those of you who are interested.

1. The venue has been booked.
2. The chairs have been rented.
3. The dress has arrived.
4. The bridesmaid's have their dresses.
5. The food has been selected.
6. The preacher has been..reserved?
7. The invitations are being printed AS we speak.
8. The cake has been designed.
9. The cake artist has been booked.
10. The photographer [also the cake artist] has been booked.
11. Hairstyle..check!
    
12. Decorations have been decided upon.
13. Groom's cake has been designed.
14. Candy 'bar' is a done deal.

I can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'm sure there is more. I guess all I'm trying to say is that pretty much everything is planned, maybe not all finalized, but I'm feeling good.
